AI-Powered Interior Design Based on Online BIMkeeper Layouts

IRP has successfully used AI to design a virtual, photo-realistic interior — without making any physical changes to the space!
The technology analyzes the room’s dimensions, lighting, and structural features. Furniture added online in BIMkeeper is used as the base input and remains in place — but now as part of a beautifully designed interior.

Thanks to this tool, we can easily visualize and compare different interior design options — without changing the room’s dimensions or perspective.
In many cases, we use a BIM model as the starting point. By furnishing a room accurately and to scale — with furniture, paintings, lighting, and more — we create a solid foundation for applying AI.

We’ve now succeeded in using AI to generate truly photo-realistic visualizations of layouts created in BIMkeeper, including realistic textures, reflections, and lighting effects. The layout of the space — walls, windows, and other structural elements — remains in its original position. Combined with the accuracy of a BIM model, this results in an extremely lifelike representation.

AI Makes Interior Design Simpler, Faster, and More Visually Convincing

The way we design and furnish interiors is evolving rapidly — and artificial intelligence (AI) is playing a key role in this transformation. Where we used to rely on physical showrooms or 2D floorplans to imagine a space, the combination of BIMkeeper and AI now makes it possible to instantly see how furniture, materials, and colors come together within a realistic 3D environment.

The images above illustrate the power of this innovation: the same room, but with two entirely different atmospheres, both fully furnished in a digital setting.

Although this application is still under development, it already clearly demonstrates how AI can transform the experience of interior design — without any physical modification. This makes it easy and accessible to explore various styles and layouts.

From Abstract Model to Realistic Experience

In the first image, we see a room furnished using standard catalog objects from BIMkeeper. In the second image, the same space has been visually enhanced by AI with photo-realistic elements like wood finishes, natural daylight simulation, a lifelike plant, and realistic textures on chairs and walls.
This upgrade clearly shows the leap from a technical rendering to an inspiring living atmosphere.

Try it yourself: furnish a room, take a screenshot, and let AI bring it to life in stunning realism! Remember, the choosen style in the BIM model will heavily effect the result of the AI.
